Hilltop's Berger De Picards
Gotta love a dog that smiles
So how did we come upon owning Picards??? I think the answer is the same as most people......We watched the movie Because of Winn Dixie and just had to know what breed of dog that was. After doing research about the breed we knew we wanted to add one to our family and started doing major searching online. We came to find this was a very hard dog to get a hold of and even harder to find a breeder willing to ship the puppy to us. Most breeders require you to fly to pick up your pup, however with the farm and my husbands work schedule we found that very difficult. We were lucky enough to find Giorgio and in the summer of 07 Canis flew into Boston and it was love at first sight. Wanting to add a non-related male to our home we contacted Betsy and she put us in touch with Mme Veillard in France where Chandler came from. We were not able to go pick him up but arranged for him to be brought back to us and he joined our family in October of 07. This breed is so wonderful and we decided to contact Giorgio about another pup in his upcoming litter.....well we just couldn't let that pup travel alone so we bought two Carly and Claire who joined our family in March!!! They all get along wonderful and are very happy dogs and how can you not love that personality? Dixie our brindle recently joined our family. We reccomend anyone looking to research this breed thoroughly before deciding if they are right for your family. We hope to start showing our Picards very soon.
